Why READ?

Sub-Saharan Africa has some of the world’s richest solar, wind, hydro, and biomass resources. Yet hundreds of millions of people still lack access to modern energy, and many universities do not have the curricula, labs, or industry linkages needed to drive the transition

What We Do

Our AIM

By the end of the project, READ aims to:

Modernise renewable energy curricula across partner universities
Train and mentor hundreds of students and faculty members
Establish practical training pathways, including internships and entrepreneurship programmes
Produce research and policy outputs that inform national and regional energy strategies
Create a lasting Africa–Europe network on renewable energy education and innovation

READ is implemented by a consortium of eight universities from Somalia, Tanzania, Malawi, Türkiye, and Italy.
